Weekend Projects To Increase Home Value

Quick weekend wins that will help boost curb appeal

Are you looking to increase the curb appeal of your home without spending a lot of time or money? A small weekend painting project can drastically change how the exterior of your home looks to guests or potential buyers. Choosing great paint colors for all the small details of your home can really give it an updated look without the expense or effort of painting the entire house. Four areas of the exterior that could benefit from a new coat of paint are the front door, shutters, porch, and the garage door.

Fresh and Fantastic Front Doors

The front door makes a statement when a guest walks up to your home. Choosing the right paint color can make the front door seem more inviting. This can be a great spot to add a pop of bright color that is in contrast to the rest of the exterior. Calypso Berry could be a pretty choice for a front door, as many people go with a red. Of course, a deep, rich color such as Ruby Lips could also help with curb appeal by making the front door feel inviting. Having an accent color on your front door can help it stand out from the rest of the home.

Showing Off with Shutters and Trim

Shutters and trim are a great detail on a home. Choosing the right paint color for your weekend paint project on the shutters or trim is very important. A great shade of color to go with is white, because it makes the outside of the home look very fresh and clean. It can make even an older home appear more modern. A color like Delicate White can add a stark white look to go with almost any exterior paint color. Of course there are always choices such as Antique White that still give that modern look while being a little more subtle.

The Perfect Porch and Deck

It is easy to overlook the color of a front porch as something that can be done as a weekend paint project. However, the front porch color needs to blend nicely with the exterior of the home, or it could end up being an eyesore. A nice shade of brown could go nicely with most exterior colors. Dusty Trail would be a good choice if the exterior of the home is a shade of beige or even brick or stone exteriors. If the home has more of a modern feel, you may consider a color like Stonehedge because gray is a very popular shade right now.

Go Big with your Garage Door

If the garage door of the home can be seen from the front, it is a great weekend painting project to make a big difference in the look of the exterior. While some people keep the garage doors the same color as the exterior, it could be a chance to add an accent color or even just a different shade of the exterior color. For example, if the house is forest green in color, you may consider a medium or light gray like Intuituve

There are many easy ways to increase the curb appeal of your home with a simple weekend painting project. The front door and garage doors of the home can be a great spot for an accent color, while the trim and the porch can be painted to match the exterior color. Choosing the right shades to accent your home makes all the difference when someone views it for the first time.
