Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product - Great Look ! The finished result has been excellent for our 15+ year old deck that had 2 coats of solid stain previously applied before we bought this house 3 years ago, 2nd coat was peeling away from 1st coat that was also peeling away. The key to my success was the prep before apply the solid stain, spent 10 hours on both a Saturday and Sunday sanding with a deck sander rented from HD with 20 grit sanding sheets, using deck stripper on what was left, scrapping the softened stain on my hands and knees, thoroughly rinsing the stripper, sanding again after it dried and then washing with a deck cleaner. I then let deck dry for 48 hours and applied 1st coat of the Elite solid stain with 5" brush, really soaked into the old PT decking. after 24 hours I applied a 2nd coat again with the 5" brush. As you can see it looks great ! The adhesion of the stain appears to be very strong and after 48 hours of drying the surface is hard to the touch which I hope leads to durability. This was a lot of work but cheaper than putting down new PT or a composite material.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never again. My fiance and I recently purchased our first home together, so we have spent quite a bit of money at Lowes within the last few months. Our last purchase there has left us completely unsatisfied, however. After speaking with an associate about our deck and front porch which needed a fresh coat of paint, we were directed to buy Olympic Elite. We were assured that the 2 and a half gallon bucket would be more than enough for the two coats recommended by the associate. We followed the directions only painting when it was sunny not humid ect ect and there was enough time for it to dry completely. We noticed that a few days later the paint was chipping off of the wood in multiple places. I thought maybe we had done something wrong so I redid the paint job with another two coats and yet again, a few days later, there were chips missing out of the paint. I am extremely dissatisfied. Now our porch and deck have big spots of paint missing, and we wasted over $100 on gallons of the stuff that did not hold up like we were told it would.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete waste and time and money! I waited for weeks for the perfect weather conditions. Prepared the deck as instructed...everything was perfect. Applied with a brush. Water beaded nicely for less then a month. This is the 2nd time I spent my time and money on this junk. I strongly recommended you pick a different product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from COLORS NOT MATCHING I had bought the Olympic Elite several months ago to apply the first stain and sealant on the new deck. Rains in the area prohibited me in applying this until of recently. I went back to Lowes to get more and discovered they do not carry this anymore. Was told that Home Depot now carries this product. The sales person retrieved the codes indicated on the now empty container and mixed what I needed to finish. The colors have a vast difference of color. I only started with a small area with the new paint to be certain of matching. What can I do now? I am so disgusted with this process. I also see that others are having the same problems with stains not matching the same product but bought from a different location due to them not carrying the product anymore. Please help, as I am widowed and attempting to do this by myself.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great color, poor durability We used this product on our new deck after ample drying time. Looked amazing for about 6 months and then began to fade rapidly and come off in places. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful color... not so beautiful outcome I used the Olympic deck cleaner, I scrubbed the deck like the directions said, I used the solid stain Olympic Elite, and within 3 weeks I see it peeling off. Very sad. I had high hopes.. I followed directions. And now I’m out money and time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overpriced bad product! would give a ZERO star We built a screen-porch/deck and purchased 3 gallons of Olympic Elite Stain from Lowe's. I am HORRIBLY DISAPPOINTED with this stain! We spent a lot of money on this and it is supposed to last years NOT months!!! We completed our porch/deck in April and today is June 1st and it is already wearing off!!! I cannot believe all the money and work and it lasted a couple months. Shame on you Olympic for selling a bad product. We used Home Depot product on our front deck and have had no problems at all with that one. I have pictures of the build with dates along with receipts to show, we used new wood so don't blame the wood either. you just have a bad product and i would NOT recommend it to ANYONE!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Peeling and Bubbling After a Day I stained my patio set with this "stain" yesterday. Like the other 1-star reviews here (oh, how I wish I'd read them before purchasing), today it is bubbling and peeling in various spots. I'm not sure how they can call this is a stain when it really goes on (and comes off!) semi-gloss latex paint. So after years of maintaining my patio furniture, it turns out it just took one gallon of this stain to destroy all of my efforts. Returning the remaining stain to Lowe's for a refund and then going to search for an all new patio set. Absolutely unreal. Bottom line: spend $30-some on this stain and be prepared to replace your entire patio set, or spend the rest of your summer sanding and chipping away the "stain" so you can redo it with another brand. Beyond disappointed. Heartbroken really.
