Reviews
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only okay Used it on some new Doug Fir siding. We chose Olive Wood. I applied it with a sprayer and back brushed. The result was nearly black and pretty splotchy. I suppose that I could have applied another coat, but I wanted to actually see the wood; it’s why I bought a stain. But it’s not really a stain; it’s an opaque layer - or, by another name: paint. So, I scrubbed it all back off with mineral spirits. The result is beautiful, though I am suspicious about durability because of the mineral spirits. 350sf/gallon? I could get more like 3500sf out of a gallon. Now I am left wondering about what to apply over the top as a dealer? Maybe some Olympic Elite un-tinted “stain”?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Color looks way different and finish is shiny We bought the "coffee" colored stain which looks like a dark brown in the stock photos. On our deck, it looks very grey. We thought after putting down the second coat, maybe it would darken to the correct color, but it's still just grey grey. It also has a very shiny finish, despite us following instructions properly. It is slippery. My 3 year old slipped and fell down the deck stairs yesterday. Not happy, and with the shiny finish I am concerned how well it will hold up over time (seems like it could be likely to peel).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Revised, actually performed well My first review on this product was quite dismal. I must in good faith revise my review. It turns out this product has an exceptionally long cure time. Without exagerartion up to a month! It is extreme and I was annoyed at the lack of durability during that cure time. The fact is after about a month it hardened up quite well and after 4 years it has been quite a respectable product. Thinking back I'm surprised to be saying it. But now that I know it's nature I would use it again. It actually has a great tree like finish when cured properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE! Wish I could choose zero stars! After one fall and one winter (where it received no traffic or shovelling) almost all of the stain is flaking off or gone off of my deck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this product I bought this product along with other items they recommended I use to pre treat and power wash our deck with. I followed the instructions to a T. 6 months after staining our deck it looked like it hadn't been stained in 10 years. Less than a year later I paid to have my deck professionally done which is what I should have done in the first place. What a waste of time and money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product and service I purchased this product 3 years ago and applied it as instructed to a covered 2 year old deck. The finish was fine for a year when where it was exposed to weather it showed signs of extreme wear. Within 18 months it completely wore off. It looks terrible. I don’t recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Squirrels love it - Beware! I bought this stain for our large deck and stairs outside. It provided good coverage and quality BUT squirrels love it. (We used the brown base stain) They literally started eating/gnawing and scratching our deck immediately and we have been fighting for weeks to catch/eliminate the squirrels because they do not stop. We likely will have to replace some rungs of our stairs because the damage is deep. Just beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product - Great Look ! The finished result has been excellent for our 15+ year old deck that had 2 coats of solid stain previously applied before we bought this house 3 years ago, 2nd coat was peeling away from 1st coat that was also peeling away. The key to my success was the prep before apply the solid stain, spent 10 hours on both a Saturday and Sunday sanding with a deck sander rented from HD with 20 grit sanding sheets, using deck stripper on what was left, scrapping the softened stain on my hands and knees, thoroughly rinsing the stripper, sanding again after it dried and then washing with a deck cleaner. I then let deck dry for 48 hours and applied 1st coat of the Elite solid stain with 5" brush, really soaked into the old PT decking. after 24 hours I applied a 2nd coat again with the 5" brush. As you can see it looks great ! The adhesion of the stain appears to be very strong and after 48 hours of drying the surface is hard to the touch which I hope leads to durability. This was a lot of work but cheaper than putting down new PT or a composite material.
