Coverage

Approximately 200 sq. feet per quart depending on application and wood porosity

Area Preparation

Surface must be clean and dry. Remove all dust, dirt, grease, oils, wax, and any other surface contaminants. Previous coatings must be completely removed. Prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain with sandpaper until smooth. Use a tack cloth or vacuum cleaner to remove any dust prior to staining. Air, product, and surface temperatures between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C).

Application Details

Provide adequate ventilation. Different species of wood absorb stain differently. Test color on a hidden section or scrap wood before staining a large area for determination of final color and appearance. Stir well before and during use. DO NOT THIN. When using more than one container of the same color, intermix to ensure color uniformity. For wood or textured surfaces, wipe stain on with a soft, lint-free cloth or brush on with a high-quality, natural bristle brush, then gently rub into the grain. Wipe off excess stain with a soft, lint-free cloth. For metal or other surfaces, a graining tool can be used. For increased depth of color, repeat stain application after 2 hours. Protect with the appropriate water-based or solvent-based, clear topcoat after stain has dried thoroughly, 8 hours minimum.

Drying Time

Requires 2 hours of dry time before adding another coat, 8 hours of dry time before adding a top coat
