Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Strange discolorations occurred after first rain I purchased this product along with a do-it-yourself picnic table kit. First I washed all the individual pieces with Olympic Premium Deck Clear, then rinsed thoroughly and let dry, then did a light orbital sanding, then rinsed again and let dry. Then I applied this Maximum Waterproofing Sealant product. I let the sealer dry for a day, then assembled the table. Initially, everything looked great. There was an amber color to the sealer (which you can see in the third picture with the table upside down), but it had a nice warm look to it. However, after it rained one evening, strange discolorations appeared on the table when it dried. They don't rub off or wash off. I don't know what they're from. They happened at various places around the tabletop and seats, so it wasn't specific to one particular piece of wood. I saw other references to this discoloration in product reviews on the Lowes website and I was going to reference them here, but Lowes discontinued the product and now those reviews are gone. Frustrating. I guess I'll be sanding it down and doing it again with another product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product Would never recommend this product - peeled off my deck in less than a year and yes applied exactly as recommended by mfg and Lowe's. This not only happened once but twice. Called mfg and advised and the return all cost of sealer and stripper product cost with not questions or Inspection. What this this tell you - mfg knows they have a poor product. I cringe every time I hear a Lowe's representative recommend it then I stop and advise the consumer if my issue. Take it off the market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My go to deck stain I have used this product for years. I restain my deck annually. We get 40 to 60 inches of rain annually and no product withstands that. It is easy to use and does not peel or get lumpy like other stains I have used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid coverage in the oil base. User of this product over 20 years and won't use any other. Easy to use and need 15 to 20 gal. for my porch with no complaints on coverage.Tried all the methods of application over the years but as to the clear I like my method. Less waste and easy clean up. In the middle of resealing now and two years overdue ( forgot and it is my house ) and it is doing great.I use a 2gal. lawn pump sprayer. Probably not good for color stain without back rolling. Never had a problem with storage. Present porch deck 15yrs. of t&g pine non-PT. doing great. Always has lasted longer than advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use, looks amazing! While not completely clear this product is super easy to use versus behr, Cabot, and flood products. It’s not sticky, and goes on easy. I mostly used a 5in brush to apply on 324’ of new pickets, mainly because I didn’t want to waste product due to roller dripping, over spraying, etc. very easy to use and I highly reccomend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Depends on if you can get the oil base formula I have been using Olympic maximum waterroof sealant for years. Unfortunately a couple of years ago in Canada the formula was changed from 550 g/l VOC to 100 g/l VOC. If you can get the oil base version It's a Wonderful product and I fully recommend it. If however you can only get the water base version it's not worth your money. You will need to reseal your deck every year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely yellow Purchased this sealant to cover a bench I built. I was very happy with the color of my bench until I applied Olympic maximum "clear" sealant. It could be best described as a honey-mustard color. Will likely take a lot of sanding to re-finish with a better product.
