Prepping the Wood

Make sure you prep the wood:

Nail down bulging nails.
Sand away any loose wood fibers.
Clean the wood and wait for it to thoroughly dry.

Applying the Stain

Apply 1 or 2 thin coats, per package instructions.
Use a brush, roller, or both, to completely cover the wood.
Always work with the grain.
