Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wenge I paid a contractor to apply stain and I'm not happy with how the color was very dark in patches and barely tinted in other areas of deck.i will never buy any Olympic product again. Now I will have to go to the expense of sanding and stripping and then start over again. This has turned into a very pricey project and an unacceptable looking deck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brown The stain did not make it one year before it started to peel off. Cleaned the brand new cedar deck with Olympic cleaner prior to staining. Looked good for the first few months, then winter came and now all horizontal surfaces are almost gone. Don't buy this stain. You will be stuck paying for someone to come sand the bad areas. The warranted from Olympic only covers the poor product they sell.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wenge I bought this product to protect my deck for a few years. The product sounded great and color selection was awesome. I cleaned the deck three times just to make sure I got everything off. I applied the stain and sealer with new rollers and brushes. A few days went by and everything still looked good...but here we are a year later and the sealer is all gone from every horizontal surface. The stain has stayed and it looks good, but every board soaks up water. The product was a good idea but I will never use a product with stain and sealer mixed in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ash Color applied is uneven. Some areas very nice with others blotchy. For the very expensive price this us unacceptable. I have stained many decks in the last with Thompson products without this issue. Thus time I decided to use a more expensive product for better and long lasting protection and the result is terrible.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed This product was very disappointing. It was highly recommended and I did a lot of research prior to purchasing our product. The stain went on beautifully. HOWEVER, we put it on in October. It is mid to end of June and it is peeling off and bubbling up in places. The deck furniture has to be handled so cautiously because the stain is so fragile and is peeling upon any type of friction caused. Shouldn't happen when you pay so much and spend so much time on a product. Very disappointed. Do not recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chestnut Brown Not impressed! Need better quality control on their formula. TEST EVERY CAN YOU BUY!! I bought 4 samples to test on scrap pieces of wood from a set of carriage doors I built. Of the samples, 2 of 4 stained pretty well. The other 2 the colors didn't really penetrate very well. Should have taken that as a omen... of the other 2, I picked the Chestnut Brown. Really liked how the sample turned out so I went back and bought a gallon. Expected it to color just the same. IT DID NOT!! Not only that, the color did not penetrate AT ALL. It just sat on top of the wood, kinda like a glaze. After it started to set up and get "gummy" I realized this wasn't going to work and I was afraid I had ruined my whole project. I proceeded to scrape off the "gummy stain" with a putty knife. It was obvious very little was penetrating. I cleaned up the rest best I could with warm water and a scotchbrite pad. Most of it came off, but it left behind just enough I don't believe I will be able to use any color stain without MAJOR rework to reprepare it. I will probably just be stuck painting them solid. REALLY disappointed in the whole project now and especially with Olympic ELITE semi-transparent. I will be extremely hesitant to use any of their products ever again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Initial Review I am very happy with this product. It went on well on new, dry PT lumber. It soaked up a lot of stain so my 252 sq ft deck used about 1.75 gallons. It's dry to the touch after just 12 hours overnight with a low temperature in the 60s. I don't know what the rest of you are doing where your applications won't dry -- too heavy handed or two coats? Zero tack to the touch here.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stain is peeling terribly after 1 year! My husband and I built a brand new bi-level wooden deck. With such a large investment we wanted to use a quality stain for our new deck. After much thought and consideration we chose 2 colors from Olympia Elite stains. It has been less than year and the stain is peeling from the floor boards and the rajlings. We couldn't be any more disappointed with this product. I would not recommend this to anyone... very expensive and a poor quality product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Olympic Elite Rustic Cedar Semi-Solid We did out homework and researched the products and felt confident that we had made the best decision to go with this product. Sadly, it has only been 10 months and the color has faded so much that it looks like it has been about 10 years!!!! While it has not chipped or peeled, the color has not held up at all. We are so disappointed. Now in addition to the new projects we are undertaking, we have to totally redo our deck stain!!!! Do not purchase this product unless you love to stain yearly!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jatoba nightmare...looks like paint not stain and still not dry! I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased $130 or Jatoba Elite at Lowes! My husband and I spent days prepping the deck for a fresh new stain and sealer. We rented a sander and sanded down to raw wood. It looked great...without the stain. My husband started applying it when I was gone and I came home and asked if that was paint or stain? The color is very orange and not like the color on the brochure. There is not wood grain showing through. We have stained and resealed our deck for the past 15 years and never have we had this experience. It has been 2 days and I cannot water my lawn because its still tacky in places and shows our footprints. Won't be using this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 716 Cedar Natural tone I am not at all happy with this product. We renovated our deck with new lumber over the last two years and purchased this stain - which I loved at Lowe's - and still love the color of. However the date on one of the receipts I kept shows a date of 07/19/14 - and it was put on over the summer of 2014 and 2015 (Second/third coat) It is supposed to be guaranteed for 6 years, and it is already coming off the deck. It has been coming off over the winter when we shovel snow, and was starting to come off last fall before the snow started falling. I am not happy that each can we have purchased cost about 35.99 each - we have purchased a total of three cans for the coverage of the front and back decks as well as railings and spindles, and after a couple coats and up to 2 years of wear and tear - it is already in need of being redone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timberline Semi Solid Stain First off this was much easier than the reviews or my wife and I thought it would be. From prep to finish we had a total of 24 hours into it consisting of using a deck wash and mildew remover to clean our new deck (installed last October) and some sanding to smooth everything out. The real trick here is to follow the instructions for this stain, as it clearly states this is a one coat application. We had no issue after the fact with tackiness or sticky residue like others have stated and simply applied the stain by roller (3/16th nap) while brushing back with a 4" stain brush. As you can see from the accompanying pictures the result was a smoother and surprisingly softer finish with an even look all around! We will definitely be using Olympic Elite for our deck in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garden wood fence 9 years ago, I pressure washed and re-stained the picket fence that acts as a border between the back yard and the garden. In Minnesota it gets everything from 100 degrees in the direct summer sun and 30 below and snow drifts from November till April, still looks better than when I found it. This is a very good product, try it sometime!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed!!!! We used the Elite solid stain this past weekend to stain our large back deck. Prepped the deck and used stain per directions. Four days later it is still tacky and is so dirty. Because it is tacky, it is picking up dirt, pollen and everything else. This cannot be rinsed off. The deck is going to have to be scrubbed. We are so disappointed that five people wasted an entire day only to have to re-stain in the near future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Olympic Elite Royal Mahogany I loved the look of the Olympic Elite Royal Mahogany when I applied it last fall. Now less than 9 months later it is peeling everywhere. I cleaned, sanded, prepared just like it said but now I have a lousy looking deck. Poor product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from tinted gray using Base 2 Just painted...seems better than Maximum with thicker consistency. I hope it wears better than Maximum as that required me to repaint stain every year in high traffic area.
